Meet Matt Payne
"Facing your own mortality really changes your perspective on life," says Matt Payne, of North Bay. Matt, was only 31 when he was diagnosed with Stage 2 Testicular Cancer. Eight years later, he was happy to be cancer free, and is monitored annually for recurrence.
"It may seem strange, but I had a really good experience," reflects Matt. "Yes, it was tough! But I felt very well cared for by every member of my healthcare team. They saved my life."
Donations played an essential part in the care he received at NBRHC. "Everything I needed for my treatment was available locally, thanks to the generosity of our community," says Matt.
"I am beyond grateful for the care I received and for the staff at NBRHC, which is why I have made a multi-year commitment to the Cancer Care, Close to Home campaign."
"Making a pledge was much easier than I expected," says Matt. " I was able to commit to a larger gift and pay it off over time."
