Your Legacy

What is your first memory of your hospital? Was is a visit to the Emergency Department as a child after falling off your bike? Was it for the arrival of your first child? Or was it be with someone you love at the end of their life? Among all the uncertainties in the world at the moment, there’s one thing for sure… Your hospital is here for you and your loved ones whenever you need it.

We are all touched in some way by care at our hospital, whether it is a family member or friends. Through the NBRHC Foundation, our community gives generously to ensure our hospital is equipment with state-of-the-art medical equipment to provide the best possible care when we need it. The reality is, the government does not fund medical equipment. It is the responsibility of the hospital and community, together.

Choosing to remember NBRHC Foundation with a gift in your Will is a meaningful and impactful way to demonstrate your care and compassion for the health of your community in years to come. Even a gift of 5% will make a real and lasting difference. You will leave a legacy of health for your community.

How it works

There are many ways to remember NBRHC Foundation in your Will. All gifts large and small make a real and lasting impact to the healthcare of your community.

You can leave a share of your assets
A good way to help is to leave a percentage of what is left of your Estate or assets after other gifts (and debts) have been paid—known as a “residual gift.” If you have already made a Will, but want to add a residual gift to NBRHC Foundation, your lawyer can help you do this without affecting the gifts you leave your loved ones.

You can leave a fixed sum of money
You may wish to leave a specific/stated sum of money. This type of gift is known as a “specific gift.”

You can leave a specific item of value
You may wish to leave a particular item, which can be sold to support healthcare in your community. It could be property or an item of value, such as stocks, bonds, real estate, works of art, or jewelry.

Why consider a legacy gift?

Help your community overcome future health challenges: Choosing to remember NBRHC Foundation with a donation in your Will is the perfect way to let your values, ideals and compassion for the health of your community continue into the future.

Amplify your impact:  It’s possible to make a more significant gift than you might otherwise be able to afford today. A planned gift has the chief advantage of not affecting your current financial resources.

Enjoy tax benefits: By including charitable gifts in your estate planning, you can reduce significant taxes payable upon your death.

Support an area meaningful to you: You can support a specific department or area of care at the Health Centre or support a particular fund, such as the education endowment.
